how do I free up a PCI IRQ?

I've found out that my graphics card and sound card are sharing an interrupt request which is causing some problems with my sound card. How can I free up a PCI IRQ so that they no longer share an interrupt request?

Go into your bios. Go into pnp/pci config setup.
Make sure pnp os installed: is set to yes (at the top) This will enable windows to sort this problem out for you. Just save to cmos an restart.
It should work.....
GOOD LUCK..............................

Typically, a video card does not require an IRQ. Such can be set in the BIOS.

James Another way is to open your case and move the sound card to another slot. Each different PCI slot is assigned a specific IRQ - except that PCI slot 3 usually shares with the AGP slot. Good luck...Krystyna
