I need help in the particular files that are essential in order to change from Windows Me to another lower version.I mean which of the files that are in the root directory of my hard drive are important in order that when i change to the older version of windows, the folder names still keep their long names instead of being changed to some junk i sometimes can't even remember what i named them as, and along with other properties that will remain....Please help me...

Unless Me was installed via an upgrade from 98 and you told Windows to save information, you can not downgrade back to 98 without wiping everything out and starting again.

Easy... Take the cover off your computer CPU. Then pour about 3 ounces of hitest gas and ignite with a match carefully. Then go out and by a new computer.
