Hi Guys.
Has anyone lately been having problems with Hotmail when trying to Send or Forward?

On a number of occassions when I hit the Reply and start to type the reply, I get an error message saying that an error has been caused in Internet Explorer and it will shut down, and it does! Yet when I get sneaky and Forward instead, it works, for a while anyway.

Other times neither works, or they both decide to work.

I have contacted Hotmail but they claim it is my Internet Explorer installation that is at fault and they give me instructions on how to rebuild it via the Add/Remove options.

But Internet Explorer does not appear in my Add/Remove list, so I can not try to uninstall it thus giving me the option of a re-build (as Hotmail would have me do).

Any ideas?
Regards

Janset, YES! its been driving me crazy!

Ive figured it out. You must wait till the ads on the right fully load then the toolbar appears and your cursor flashes in the to: box. If you dont wait IE crashes. Once in a great while i get lucky but 85% of the time it crashes.

Is it a bug? Dunno.. After watching those ads load first i wonder if this is some attempt at forced ad viewing :).

Never had any difficulties with hotmail persay.

There are, however, a number of sites which do require you to wait until all ads have loaded before clicking a link or IE will crash or just simply freeze.

On another note, it seems strange to me that the reason given at any time for a website not functioning properly is almost always due to the user's browser installation or settings...operating system, user ineptness or whatever and NEVER a problem with the design of the site.

I purchase many things from the internet on a weekly basis as well as doing bill payment and banking and never have had any trouble there (knock on wood). Go figure.

Just my input.

Have a good day!

Such problems as yours are common with IE. Usually with the email or a chat. It occurs suddenly and sometimes it vanishes on its own: probably with some patch by Microsoft downloaded by the AutoUpdate.

You can just remove IE from WIndows Explorer and reinstall it. IE is usually installed on the desktop directly. Open Windows Explorer [click on the WIndows logo key + E] go to Desktop and delete the IE.

I've found I haven't been getting that problem so much after paying for the full version of Zone Alarm Pro, that has an ad., busting feature that loads your pages quicker without all the "JUNK". I woulden't update just for that problem, but I find it does a brilliant job {:o) 1 happy customer.

Hi Gang
Just to bring you up to date in this saga. Hotmail now states that the problem has been diagnosed by them as an Microsoft issue and have referred my problem to Microsoft to address. I have received an acknowledge from Microsoft, lets see what happens now.
In the mean time I will take your advice and wait for the brain washing to be completed before doing my thing and see how I go :)
Regards

Are you by chance using MSN Exploder? If so may I suggest dumping it? MSN says you need it but thats a lot of bunk!!! I was forced to MSN when they took over for Qwest and am not using MSN Exploder. Have both msn.com and hotmail and no problems of that nature.

I am having the weirdest thing happen. I cannot access the www.hotmail.com page at all, it is the only URL that is not working. This is happening with BOTH my home pc's but not at work, just a few miles away. No amount of contacting either microsoft (who blames my ISP) or Prodigy (who blames microsoft) has worked. I thought it could be a virus but on both pc's at the same time? Someone out there have a clue???

I've had the same problems with not being able to reply or forward from Hotmail and it would crash everytime I tried to so I looked under (using IE 5.5) IE properties-temporary internet files-settings-view objects, and the Hotmail Active X control was damaged. I tried to fix it by deleting it and hoping maybe the next time I went into Hotmail that it would replace itself, but that didn't happen. I contacted Hotmail and they told me the same thing about how to uninstall IE and reinstall blah, blah. I've always had problems with IE and Hotmail with the SSL (secure socket layer) not working properly. I've been able to get into Hotmail to read messages, but I still can't reply and currently I'm having that same problem with the SSL { NO PAGE TO DISPLAY ) after trying to sign in. Has someone found a better solution than Hotmail tech support to this problem?
