home networking problem

I networked to WINME machines together to share internet connection...
I have a USB CABLE MODEM on the server machine and a network card in each pc connected via crossover cable...
on the server machine i cant receive files from anyone on icq or join game servers etc...

Sounds like you are trying to access the internet on one pc by going thru the other via the crossover cable. If you don't mind spendin g $60, try a router. The instructions with the router are quite clear on installation and wiring. The router takes care of who has access to the net, as well as the rest of the network.

Are you saying you can do that stuff on the client PC? I take it your using ICS on server pc, if so try disabling it first.
