Comment:

I decided to rid my computer of Spyware
stuff (GATOR, GAIN).
I came across some files "HKEY" that I mistakely took for HOTBAR that I deleted.
I screwed up.
Is that why I can't reboot & "no fixed
disks present" error message?
Is recovery possible?

If your actually in windows at the moment goto: Start >> Run >> type, scanreg /restore

Space between reg and /

Pick a time pre you being silly.

Then run fully updated versions of Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware 6

And if your not in Windows, get your ME startup disk and boot with it -

# At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command, and then press ENTER. Where windows is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed.

# At the C: prompt, type scanreg /restore, and then press ENTER.

# Select the previous registry you want to restore, and then press ENTER.

NOTE: A properly working registry has the word "Started" next to the date.

When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry, press ENTER to restart your computer.
