Just recently, I was using Windows Update to check for any updates to download onto Dell (Windows Millennium) computer. There's a section on the Windows Update page where you can access the history of all downloads listed. I can vaguely remember the name of the history file/log of WinUp but I wanted to know what that was as well as how I can go about finding that file/log safely and deleting it? Any insight/input is appreciated.

Hi, i belive you need to goto folder options and "show all files" and "show system files", then navigate to C:\program files\windowsupdate\v4.. (or similar) there should be a file called ieupdate.xml or similar. this is the update log.

also in c:\windows\ have a look for a folder which may be something like "windws update setup files"... you will know it because theres a text file called "this folder is safe to delete" within it. these are just old update files and can be removed if u wish.

Thats it...

Thanx for your quick insight there on this. I know awhile back, I asked the same thing, only that time, Windows Update was an older version.

knightwriter,

Try this little free utility.

WinUpdatesList displays the list of all Windows updates (Service Packs and Hotfixes) installed on your local computer. For hotfix updates, this utility also displays the list of files updated with these hotfixes. In addition, it allows you to instantly open the Web link in Microsoft Web site that provides more information about the selected update, uninstall an update, copy the update information to the clipboard, or save it to text/HTML/XML file.
