In windows me the hibernate option has just disappeared from the shut down menu, i noticed. There are also no options 4 it in the power properties in control panel anymore - why?
Thanks
Alex

Hibernate, sleep and standby modes has often caused problems to many users. I have enable monitor turn off as the only power saving mode. In a desktop crt display the monitor comsumes the most power and the rest much lesser that it can be ignored.

If your Hibernate feature has failed several times in the past,Windows might have removed the Hibernate controls to prevent system problems.
Installing an incompatible device driver is the most common cause of hibernation failure.______________________________
Also go to Start/Run/msconfig...and click on the advanced button.It should tell you if your hibernate feature is enabled.If it isn't,there should be a checkbox with the option to restore it.

Not sure about ME or OEM systems,but see if you can do this;
You can check the Nohiber.txt log file for information about the cause of the problem.To open Nohiber.txt
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: nohiber.txt
To fix a problem mentioned in nohiber.txt, follow the instructions under the heading below that corresponds to the log entry.good luck

Oh yeah,Alex...restoring the registry might help too...Start/Run/scanreg /restore
*note the space in scanreg/restore
You should have 5 choices by default...pick one when you knew things were OK,if possible
