Hewlett Packard Scanjet 4100C Can anyone get their scanner to work with the full version of ME? HP are particularly unhelpful!

I have the 5300C under WinME working via USB... Although the installation CD of HP didn't support USB under Win ME (first installed it connected through parallel port), I succeeded by connecting the scanner and run the hardware detection in the cofiguration panel.

We have the same problem with a HP 3400C. The patch downloaded from HP only solves some of the problem. HP is completely useless when trying to get helpful response. We are returning our HP scanner (also, this is when using with an HP hardrive!) I wish these mega companies could get their act together. Also, any recommendations on a 100 to 150 dollar ME compatible scanner appreciated.

Can you describe the problems a little. How do you connect your scanner? Did you install the HP software succesfull ? Can you find your scanner in the hardware manager (configuration panel -> system -> ...) ? Do you get error messages or something like that ?
