Hi,

Funweb and My Web Search have found me. I don't know how, but they found me, and they are not Fun.

I downloaded Spybot & its updates, which seems to find it, but after I 'fix' the problem, Funweb simply reinstalls itself (which seems to be triggered by a 'Smiley Central' popup).

I read on an old post "Disabling restore followed by a scan and a reenable should do the trick." Sounds like what I need to do, but I'm not quite that computer savvy. Could someone explain that a little more completely?

Thankyouthankyouthankyou,

Joe

Follow that - How to Remove MyWebSearch, aka MySearch, My Search Bar, My Way Speedbar & Search Assistant

And then download Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05 - CWShredder 1.59.1.

Update Ad-Aware when you've downloaded it and then run it, and run CWShredder.

See how you go with that first.

Joe, maybe this'll help :
DISABLE RESTORE IN ME
Follow these steps..........
1. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel and click the System icon to open the system properties dialog box.
2. Go to Performance>File System>Trouble Shooting
3. Mark the disable system restore checkbox (to enable simply use the same steps but uncheck this box) then click Apply.
4. You must restart your computer for the setting to take effect.
5. Get rid of any signs of your offending virus/spyware preferably following your Anti Virus sites instructions as to what to do with the particular virus.
To play it safe I would reboot then just remember to go back in and turn the System Restore feature back on if desired.
HTH.

Thats all cool and groovey but if you don't uninstall MyWebSearch and follow the instructions it won't be going anywhere. Fact of life.
