What DVD software are you using to use the DVD's?

Right click My Computer icon and choose properties, then choose device manager, and look aat the devices installed under CD-ROM drives. One of these will be the make and model of your drive - make a note of it and go on to the next step... If this is not listed then:

Download and install BELARC ADVISOR, run it and it will tell you what type of devices you have on your system.

The next step is:
When you know what type of DVD drive it is, go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for that model for the operating system you are using (presumably Windows Millenium). Install the driver and you should be up and running.

It's no good saying "email me the answer" - as the idea of the forum is that others can learn from problems and solutions and you come back here to review the responses and try the suggestions/fixes.

Did the computer used to play DVDs or have u not tried it (or its new)?

I had a problem where it used to work but then out of the blue the software would stop responding just after i executed it. (I use PowerDVD)

It turns out that a PCI modem i recently tested, but left in the PC, was the problem, so i disabled it in device manager. That cured the problem, and also cured a similar problem with Windows Media Player 7 (and 9) along with it!

Could work.. if its similar to my (ex)problem!
