ok heres the skinny - im running windows me on a compaq presario laptop. the burnner softwear is called Adaptec Easy CD Creator, seems simple so far, huh? I have a bucnh of music files from AudioGalaxy.com (kinda like a Napster thing)and have been trying to write some of them to a disk. every thing seems like its going fine, untill i try to play the cd and it wont do anything!whats going on! Im thinking that mabey the music files are in some kinda funky format or something?? but i dont know how to check what kinda files they are. it seems like they should be mp3 or wave? right? i dont know. WHY ISNT IT WORKING!!!! plz some computer knowlegable person help me out!!!!

ummm... well what are you trying to play them on, a cd player, or your computer?
also there probably in a mp3 format if you got the off of audiogalaxy. it sounds like you where wrighting a data cd with mp3's, then tried to play them on a cd player. Well if your going to do that, you need to write them in an audio format. If you are going to use the cd your burning as a backup disk, use the data format, so you can burn them to where you can read them from you computer.Click here for my web site

ok on the softwear - i picked the right option to make it an audio cd. but it still did the same thing - im trying to make it where i can play it on a regular CD player. so whats wrong?? could it be writting the files as data anyway?? this is confusing lol

CD's will not play on a CD player unless the disc's are closed. Before you start writing the CD make sure the program is set to close the disk. Also any CD's that you have already written can be closed with Adaptec.

ohh ok!!! I THINK THAT DID IT!!! DUHHHH thats the first ive heard about closing a CD - but i think i got it fugured out now! thanxs a lot!!!

Easy CD Creator has a good instruction manual with it. If you don't have it, it's also in the program under the help section called basics.

Converting the mp3 files to wav format, and then burning them to a cd will enable they play in a audio cd player.

Hi Adamtaylor2c,
Iread your inquiry and I did not see anything
pertaining to thew type of cd you are trying to burn. Make sure that the cd is and AUDIO cd and not a DATA cd.

I have Adaptec as well. Here is an 800 # for you to call. 1 800 243 0000. They have walked me through a few problems..

Theres no difference in audio and data cd's, thats just what they put on the pack. The differences is CD-RW and CD-R, so which one are you using, cause CD-RW want play in almost all cd players(there is a few that play CD-RW, but i have only seen 2 portable ones)It makes a difference when you wright them and what kind you use. You need a CD-R and wright it in audio format to play in a cd player. Don't call me stupid, but thats why they call me WeIrD.Click here to see my web site
