Please help. I am having problems disabling safe mode on my home computer. However, after searching the net, I am unsure that I'm in safe mode because I was able to establish an internet connection?

I can't use my mouse at all, and can only navigate using keyboard (i.e. Crtl Tab, Shift, etc.) I have really reduced graphics.

I did try using F8,and choosing Normal, which did nothing. Please help- I am not that computer savvy, and can't afford to buy a new one. Thanks!

I didn't choose safe mode. I started my computer and it was set to Safe Mode/diminished capacity. I'm assuming it's in Safe mode because of the extremely reduced graphics/functions.
I can't get my computer to run normally, and more importantly- I have lost functionality of my mouse. ( and yes everything is connected properly.) All I want is for it to run normally again.
Thanks

in the 4 corners of the screen does it say safe mode? if not you may be in normal mode, but have a problem with your graphics drivers.

It does not say Safe Mode in the corners, and I also am unable to use the mouse.

I don't know what graphics drivers are- I'm fairly computer illiterate.
Thanks for your help!

ldunc1,

You say you have a compaq. Did it come with a drivers disk (CD)? You could go to their website, and get it there, if need be.

What type of mouse, is it? (USB-PS/2-Wireless, ect.) Does it require special drivers? propbably

Go into Device Manager. See if there are any problems. That would be indicated by colored X ! ? marks. (windows key, use arrow keys, Settings, Control Panel, System, Enter key, arrow right. Or windows key+R, type; sysdm.cpl Then press Enter, right arrow key...ect. ect.)

You could even try updating the driver, for the mouse. Or removing it(mouse) from device manager, and restarting the computer.

Might even try starting in safe mode, and see what is listed for mouse and display adapters in device manager. If something other than a standard ...ect. video adapter is listed. Try updating its driver, by using the "Update Driver" button, on the "Driver" Tab.

Just some ideas, good luck.
