Subject: HELP! D: drive XP partition missing OS: Windows ME CPU/Ram: PIII
|
Comment: Hi, I run Windows ME on my laptop and I had XP installed on my D: drive for a really long time and everythings been running absolutely ok. I use ME most of the time. But all of a sudden one day when I booted up into ME it didn't show my D: drive which is where I have all my invaluable data stored. My mid-terms are on now and I'm in deep trouble. On running fdisk to check for the partitions it still shows the other drive, exactly as below Part Stat Type Vol Label MBytes Sys Usage C: 1 A PRI DOS 7632 40% 2 EXT DOS 11445 60% I desperately need to get that information out of that drive but as a student can't afford the 200-500$/hr people charge for restoring the data. I've been looking all over these forums and on google but although many people seem to have the same problem I haven't seen the working solution yet. Please help me out with this as soon as possible. The smallest bit of help on this is greatly appreciated. themiragemaker.

Reply: (edit)And also to add to that when i try to boot up into XP it doesn't allow me as it cannot detect the D: drive, saying "Windows cold not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the specified boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware." Then I tried going into fdisk and set D: as the active partition and tried loading it into XP but it said "Error loading operating System" So I had to boot up again through an WinME bootdisk and switch it back to the C: drive again! HELP! HELP! HELP!
