Every time i turn on the computer, i see the HP logo, then the screen turns black and restarts! Also i have a recovery disk that lets me recover back to Windows ME(original OS) but it always says "File Allocation Table Bad C:\" what can i do? a clean boot is preferable.

If you use the recover disks, you will lose all your files...hopefully you're aware of that.

Boot off a WinME boot floppy & try running Scandisk from DOS.
