Help! I have a compaq presario 5000 desktop with a phillps 150s LCD monitor, but it's not showing right..can only show 256 color...need the video driver or something...can somebody help? thanks!

BTW, my operating system is windows me. thanks!

A few ideas to toss around.... 1) Windows may not have a proper driver for the monitor. You might want to see if their is a driver on the Phillips website for that monitor. 2) Check and see what driver it has now by going into the display appplet > settings. If it shows something like "default monitor" you could try clicking on advanced > monitor > change >specify the location of the driver > display a list of all drivers etc > show all hardware. Try to find your model or something close in the list. If it's not there, you could try a generic digital flat panel and see if that works. if not...3) Go to safe mode (tap f8 on boot, select safe mode) right click on "my computer" select properties > device manager. Remove ALL display adapters and ALL monitors. Reboot. Let windows redetect everything. It will ask you to restart after loading the video driver, and then it should load the monitor. If it still looks bad, then #1 is your best choice. good luck!
