|Hopefully this is the right forum, I'm not the most technical minded creature I'm afraid. : (|
I would be so very grateful if somebody could help me with this problem.
I had a electrician in the house a couple of days ago, who switched off the electrics while not realsing that I was using the computer.
Ever since switching back on, I have found myself in 'safe mode', and I am unable to get back off it. I do not know why this should have happened, because the computer has been switched off at the wall before and this has never happened at all.
This is very annoying, because the text and graphics on the screen are appearing very large, and the graphics are diminished and colours are severly limited.
I have tried restarting the computer, while holding down the F8 key, and then tried to press '1', which should have switched the computer back to 'normal' setting. ('safe mode' is option '3'), however, this was ineffective and I am still on this safe mode, despite repeated attempts.
I have looked in 'Device Manager', but there are no problems indicated by red crosses.
There must be a way to get this machine off safe mode and back onto its normal setting other than use F8. Could anyone please tell me how to do this???
I sincerely hope that I will not have to have the whole system wiped and started all over again, because I have already had to have this done twice due to viruses, and I have a lot of important information saved, and it would be nothing short of devastating if I had to lose it all.
My hunch is that this is a simple problem to solve, I just don't have the know-how to solve it.
Please, please could one of you technical wizards out there help me out? I would be enormously appreciative because I am at my wits end trying to work this one out.
The computer is still functional and I can still use the net, but it is so annoying I simply cannot go on with this 'safe mode' in place, and I am totally confused because I seem to be unable to switch it off by the normal means.
I thank you lots in anticipation of an informative response from anybody kind enough to help. : )
