I am having some really annoying problems here... First of all, when I first initially boot-up, my screen remains black and the motherboard beeps 8 times. I have an American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) BIOS, and apparently it's something wrong with the DISPLAY MEMORY (has something to do with the video adapter). Anyways, it takes around 20 minutes of almost constant, non-stop rebooting of the computer until finally the screen comes to life. When Windows boots, it says absolutely NOTHING is wrong, and everything works perfectly, whether I play Half-Life fullscreen, or anything else. Once my computer is on, it stays on, and nothing goes wrong. Until I run standby or time reaches 12 A.M.... *SECOND PART OF PROBLEMS* Whenever I try to initiate standby mode, my computer seems to standby correctly, but it never recovers. I pretty much have to press the little button, as CTRL-ALT-DEL wont work. Standby is enabled in system properties, etc., but it does not work anymore for whatever reason. And then there is the blue screen of death (BSOD) that happens every midnight at exactly 12 A.M. The BSOD has nothing on it but a blank grey area where "WARNING!" should be and the blinking "_" cursor. Completely unrecoverable and I have to press the power button to get out. I would also like to point out this computer has had an insane history of problems. None of which have directly anything to do with Windows ME itself, rather the hardware. I have had to replace 3 screens within 2 years (yeah one almost exploded, sounded like the circuits fried themselves all at once), replaced 1 motherboard, reformatted 8 times, used GoBack and System Restore EXACTLY 39 times, had many problems with MS-DOS, had fan heating problems, amongst a slew of other things. And don't even get me started on hard drive noises. Yeah, you'll be afraid to turn your computer on too if it sounded like its grinding steel on steel, or hissing at you from God only knows where. This damn computer has been giving me hell for 3 years now. I am pissed off beyond belief, and what I would like know from you people, is... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH MY COMPUTER, AND IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIX IT?!?!? Good day, and happy computing.

I thought about doing that, but I'm not sure that that would help either. Anyone else have any advice on fixing these annoying problems?

I'd look for a bois update. and if you can't find one and/or it doesn't do any good, reformat the HDD. Maybe that will reset the MOBO and fix it?? sorry mang.

sounds to me like you've replaced almost every part except for your hard drive and memory... why don't u try borrowing those components from a friend and stick them in your system. just a suggestion. good luck.

hello as to first part of the problem it sounds like a failing graphics card. as to the second part it has to do with m.e and power management.you best not to use power management in m.e if its not a lap top and screen saver anthe one not to use set it to none. allso goto bios makers sight and check for sure on that error code. and after you get that fixed d/l spybot-search and desteroy,update it and update it and run it and do the things in this link http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html how 2 run m.e well ver. and it dose sound possesed
