Sounds like you don't have the proper driver for your video card. If you are trying to set it to higher than 16 colors when you right click on your desktop and select properties and it is not letting you doing it, that is what your problem is. Get the latest driver for your video card.
All i have is 16 bit color.trying to find away to get the drives. please help

I am having the same problems with my colors, the two choices that is given to me is 16 bit color or 2 colors. It should have more choices. Please help me.

Dont know if this helps, but set your monitor to plug and play may give you a few more choices till you can find driver, or superVGA.
