Have been using Windows ME on my desktop and hate it. Want to use Windows 98 on both my desktop, and my new laptop (which came with ME). How do I get rid of ME and put on 98? Have only a CD for Win 98, If I take off ME and have only dos, will my CD work to put on 98? When I put in the win 98 disk to my laptop, it actually disabled the install function because it recognized it as an older version of windows. Help!!!

You will have to fdisk and then reformat your hard drives. Just make sure you backup all important data because that will be lost. You can not install 98 over me.

just format the harddrive, no need to fdisk. put in the startup floppy, choose without cd-rom support , at the A prompt type format c:\ and follow the directions. when done reboot, choose cd-rom support this time, at the A promt go to the D drive if you only have one partition and type setup.
