ok this is a long storry here so bear with me.
fist of all i got a p3 450 mhz asus motherboard an 8 gig hard drive with win 2k on it and a slave 5 gig cd rom and a cdrw on the secondary and i wanted to add a 40 gig hard drive to it then copy it all to the 40 giger so i got a ata/66 card and in the middle of installing the ata card the computer restarted and the computer just loads a blue screen and says Inaccessible Boot Device . so i took the brand new 40 gig hd and put win 98 on it and tried to slave the 8 gig hd that has all my files that i want to save but it would read in the device manager but not in my computer so i reinstalled win2k pro and same thing but it says hard drive needs to be formatted. any way i can save the stuff on my hard drive without formatting? i even tried to install me but same thing any help will be great
thanks alot

Thats pretty damm confusing but I think
I think I might see your problem. Ok, your
working with 2000, 98,& ME. What a
combination for total disaster. First, get
rid of the ME, it likes to take control
of everthing. Sounds like the 8 gig
drive w/2000 on it has a ntfs partition.
win98 can't see it, but 2000 can see 98.
I might be wrong about this its hard to tell
without seeing the machine, but uplug
the 8 gig altogether install 2000 on
the 40 gig don't install the controller card.
Once you have the 40 gig up, connect the 8
gig and 2000 on the 40 should see it.

got ride of 98 and me. installed win 2k on the 40 gig and slaved the 8 (it is ntfs) it shows the hard drive in device manager but when i try to give it a letter it says it needs to be formated. any way around formatting?
thanks

haven't been able to reply, a new app
shredded my hard drive! make sure the 40 is
ntfs. other than that i'm lost. good luck!
