hard drive keeps running

May 15, 2005 at 07:44:49
Specs: Windows ME, Pentium 3 128MB RAM

Here is the problem I'm having- the hard drive won't stop runnnig. It keeps going on and on - click, click, click, and the light keeps blinking. It's like there's a program running, but I'm not running anything. Anyway, it's really slowing down my system, and causes it to lock up a lot. I've got Windows ME, and I have McAfee firewall and virus scan. The virus scan turns up nothing. I recently downloaded Spybot which found a bunch of stuff, but the problem is still there.

From your decription of the clicking sound ,it appears that your hard drive may be on its way out. I would back up all of your important files , Then you should perform all maintience possible on drive ,scan disk ,disk clean up ,and defragment !
Good Luck Nick
