Comment: My system crashed the other day and when I tried to restart it I got the following message 'Pri. Master Disk: NONE Boot from CD: DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER'. It seemed that there was a failure to autodetect the hard drive when I went into the system BIOS.The machine failed to boot up for several hours and when it finally did, it crashed again after 10-20 mins. This has been the pattern ever since. I have replaced the ribbon cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard and this has made no difference. I have also checked all the cooling fans and they are functioning OK. Has anyone any ideas?

Reply: (edit)I would start saving any files you may want to keep as it sounds like the HDD is going bad.

Reply: (edit)Although this is not recommeneded a lot and since your system is failing, you might consider running fdisk /mbr from your boot disk to check for a boot sector virus.See if anyone disagrees before you do so.
