Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally-conscious socially-responsible low-stress non-addictive gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice as long as there are no public demonstrations or declarations, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2002, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "America" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee. (By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.)

I'm grateful for the opportunity to be helped by so many of you, and for the opportunity to return the favor. So, I thought I'd share the text of my year-end card with you. Thank you, one and all.

And why does it make you sad to see how everything hangs by such thin and whimsical threads? Because you’re a dreamer, an incredible dreamer, with a tiny spark hidden somewhere inside you which cannot die, which even you cannot kill or quench and which tortures you horribly because all the odds are against its continual burning. In the midst of foulest decay and putrid savagery, this spark speaks to you of beauty, of human warmth and kindness, of goodness, of greatness, of heroism, of martyrdom, and it speaks to you of love. --Eldridge Cleaver

May the radiance of this season color your life with peace, joy, & justice. And with kindness & love.

Sincerely,

Renaissance Man

Kevin, Justin.......thanks for the whole enterprise and for the tweaks on the way the forum operates. These holidays are about giving and receiving, with the main emphasis on giving. And what happens here, every day?

I enjoy the giving and the receiving of help and the bit of fun thrown in. I won't remember everyone, but thanks SMUOD, Viking (I'll leave you the copyright to 14062 when I retire), Ewen (thanks for the e-card), Newgrl (seen any new dots before your eyes lately?), Jimi_l (great to see you back), Suzi, Krystyna, Guru, Renaissance Man, Brenda, JFrOg (ribbid) and Miro (wherever he is.....we miss you).

Peace and goodwill - not a bad message if everyone could take it seriously, everywhere.

Happy holidays!
