Comment:

There is no particular forum for this question, so apologies in advance.

My problem is simple but annoying......Google says - 'click on the Google logo to drop down the menu and select clear history'. Well, sorry Google, but no matter what I try this does not seem to work.

Does anybody else have this problem? if so, have you found an answer? Many thanks.

If your talking about google.com / search box showing previous searches and you want it gone....

In IE go to Tools/internet options/content tab/ autocomplete / clear forms/ Close the browser window and reload google. Type in a letter and see if the history shows..

That is true, smuod,--Is there a way to do the same thing for start>run?
That brings up another question about erasing the fact that a demo software had/has expired and trying to reinstall it results in a messege saying that my/the demo period has expired
How does the download demo know that I had it and that it expired?

TweakUI will clear those entries in Start/Run,amongnst other field entries.
As far as the demos,I assume it's something that's embedded in the program itself.

Stop looking at porn if you dont want anyone to know.Thats the only reason you could have for wanting to get rid of that.

To clear the history from the run box...
Navigate here in the registry......

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

On the right side you will see letters under the name header..
[default]--dont touch it
a--delete it
b--delete it
C....etc.. depends on how many entries you have..
MRUList--dont touch it

This will only clear the run history.. It has nothing to do with trialware.

Thanks to all, but I may be being misunderstood here (my fault). I am refering to the actual history trail in the Goolge search bar itself and not Explorer, does this make a difference? Any further help would be appreciated.

And NO 'w', this has nothing to do with porn sites, it's not even about my computer (strangley enough, my Google bar doesn't show a history trail at all). This belongs to one of the hospital computers which is getting a little bogged down in the history window, so your comments are somewhat unwarranted.

response #2 will clear the history in the google search box.

If your own google toolbar isnt showing history my guess is you have it unchecked. This doesnt mean the data is not being collected. Once you enable it all your previous searches will show up.

To Clear the History in Google:
This is not a short cut, but its better than nothing. This is going to be an A - Z Deletion, so lets start:
1. Open "Google" site
2. Place the cursor in the "Google Search" Box.
3. Type the first letter in the alphabet "A"

Note: A dropdown list will be display. This is your "HISTORY" only for those sites that you have visited and begin with the letter "A".

4. Using your mouse, move your cursor down to the first name of the dropdown list. "DO NOT CLICK" only place the cursor on the name.
5. When you get the cursor on the firt name of the list, "Press the DELETE KEY until you have deleted every name on the list.

"Note Continue pressing the delete key until you dont see the names on the list.

6. Repeat the steps above using the rest of the letters of the alphabet. Remember to type the letter.

Example:
Everytime you type a letter, you then press the delete key to clear the history.

Type letter: A b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Good Luck
