there is a 1984 book by david j. bradley entitled "assembly language programming for the ibm personal computer" that gives an extremely detailed explanation of how computers work--w/details of what a register is and does and how the computer processes info. Please do not consider this spam, i am just trying to share what i consider to have been a great find.
