I have a computer with Windows ME and would like to go to Windows 98(reason:a scanner that is not supported with Me). I considered booting with a Win98 boot disk and using Fdisk. How can I keep my video, cd-rom and dvd drivers when I Fdisk the PC?

You can't really. Download all the current drivers and save to diskette or CD if you don't have disks for them already.

If you installed an upgrade to ME, the 98 files should still be available by uninstalling ME in add/remove programs in control panel. If not, you have no choice but to format the drive and instal 98 as you say. Extra help is available at

Any scanner that worked with win98 should work with windows me, but if you want to go back to using windows98 i think you need to format your HD and the reinstall windows98, you cant install windows98 over windows me, have you tryed to find updated drivers for your scanner that would make it work with windows me?
