I'm going back to Windows 3.1 & Dos 6. At least I could play a song, or move my Mouse, install a program or even write a letter and 3.1 never froze. I never experienced any lockups in 3.1.

Please Bobby, if you have a modern computer tell us later how does it handle DOS-win, I’ve been wondering how the PIII800 I have would be with low demanding programs, I remember those days and you are right, they weren’t so bad. Win3.1 was slow but stable but back then I had a 386 maybe we should see how Win3.1 was suppose to work if there were hardware strong enough in those days.
Good Luck.

Windows 3.1 on my old Pentium II runs super great & runs the internet with ease. Had to swap the dumb Winmodem out though for a real modem.(HardwareModem) It was worth it though. Cant tell you though about computers of today.

Does somebody else thinks MS used to put some more quality in their products in those days when they didn’t control 99% of the operative systems market?
For instance just take the documentation: I have a 1.5 inches thick reference book for Win3.1 very carefully written. Then Win95 came with a tiny little book (book is too generous word) and now take WinME: the worst help system I’ve ever seen, it takes an eternity to load and the searching engine just stinks.
p.s. I have a machine with win98 too, don’t kick me out of the forum.
