So after a beautiful Saturday afternoon, knowing that my computer was clean and I had about 9 Gigs of free space, I downloaded KaaZaa on my computer.
Then I rebooted. Within about 15 seconds after restarting, the blue screen of death comes up:
ERROR:VMM(12) +00001A77 ERROR:OE:0028:C0280A77
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart.
But it keeps happening again and again. Now, because it happens so quick, I don't have time to browse around and find the problem.
So I go into safe mode....and I look for help. I try restoring to an earlier date, but my computer says there are no available restore dates. (First of all, why is this?)
So my first instinct was to find the problem child, and delete it. So I searched my harddrive for anything starting with VMM.
It was a driver....VMM 32 I think (?). I deleted it and started over.
So now when I start my computer, this is what I get:
"The Following File is missing or corrupted : A\:System.VMX32.VXP Type the name of your windows loader"
I found a similar topic on this forum, and they said to reinstall Windows ME. Well, my computer came with Windows ME, so this isn't an option.
I have some very important files on my harddrive that have not been backed up.
I am on the verge of taking it in to a repair center, but I am so broke right now. In fact, I would have to push back payment on my car insurance.
So I beg you, please help me! Take it slow, too, as I am not too knowledgeable with stuff like this.
THANKS!

The very first thing that I would do is go to
START.....SETTINGS......ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
Look for KaaZaa and if it is there delete it.
Reboot your PC and see if it is OK.
That VMm or VMX file may be linked to KaaZaa
and you may not need it at if.
If you are still missing the file(error sign)
let us know and we will try to find the file.
Re-installing Windows ME will not harm or change any of your files during installation.
Good luck,
Ralph

I have a few things for you....
What make is the PC?
The file/s you are missing (VMX32*) is not on my PC & I have Win ME & Kazaa Lite (clean).
Kazaa is full of spyware rubbish.
If you don't have any restore dates, you might not have this facility enabled.
Did you virus check this 'KaaZaa' file before you installed it?
What did you do with the files I E-mailed after you first posted this problem?
If you take it to a repair shop, they may re-install Windows but charge you £80 for the pleasure. I assume you are in England. If you were elsewhere, you would not comment on the sunny afternoon! (It rained quite hard Sunday).

Hello, I'm not sure how old this is, but I've got a similar question. I changed my Virtual memory settings a while ago. I recently just started having the same problem posted here (VMM12). Do you think that my memory setting could help any? If not, should I just uninstall my recent installed progs. and see if it helps?
