When I installed Win ME it also installed MSN internet on my pc. I uninstalled MSN internet but if left a file on my desktop that I cannot delete. I right click on it and its says there are no properties for this file. Please help me, I want to get this thing off my desktop.

Desktop icons are stored in this directory:
c:\windows\desktopItems in this directory may have the "system" attribute which prevents it from being easily erased. You can try running explorer, and opening the c:\windows\folder
and try, but it probably won't work either. Here's what I would do:1. Click "start", then "run", then type in "command" without the quotations marks, of course, to start a DOS box.
2. type in this command:
cd \windows\desktop
that should put you in the desktop directory.3. type in this command:
attrib *.* -s -h -r
This will remove all the attributes from the various files, making them erasable4. type
dir
and look at the directory listings for the desktop items. Find the item you want to erase.5. use the DOS erase command to erase the desktop item:
erase item~1.lnk
If step #5 is too confusing because of the ~1 stuff, switch back to your desktop or explorer and try to delete the item again. With the attributes cleared, it should hopefully work.
Typing in "exit" will close the DOS box.

go to windows explorer, desktop,
rightclick the msn file
chose delete from the menu (it will give you message that the file cant be stored in recycle bin) confirm that you want to delete it permanently...
when you close windows explorer the icon will be gone from your desktop
Regards Miro

Or you could just drag and drop the icon into the recycle bin. Thats what i always do to the s---e icons that a install puts on my desktop.
a*

whenever I right click on it, it doesnt have an option to delete and it wont let me put it in the recycle bin. I'm gonna try prestons idea and see what happens but thanks for the other suggestions.
