HI. I downloaded a free trial version of microsoft office and didn't activate it as it took so long to download. I turned off my computer and the next day when i boot it up it does the usual beeps then stops on the black screen saying IDE-0. I tried putting in windows disk and using R to repair but it didn't work. Please help as i have all my family pictures on my comp as well as other bits and pieces that i really do not want to lose. I never learnt how to do a backup :-(
I am not a computer 'geek' but do know a little something about computers. So please try and keep it simple if you have any suggestions.
Many thanks

Did you turn off the computer while the download was in process, or did you close all programs and shut down properly? What is the "Exact" error message? What manufacturer/model of computer do you have?

You say you have XP, yet you posted in the Windows ME Forum. What OS do you have?
