One day I bought GeForce 3 MX440 AGP X8 (The one that doubles your graphics bandwith). I installed it onto my computer and also installed the drivers. Everything works fine, but when I go to BIOS, the AGP is set to 4x, when it can go up 8x.
I couldn't change it, so I thought it was because of my AGP controller. What I want to know is if there is a way to upgrade my AGP controller.

When you say you go into the bios,"the AGP is set to 4x, when it can go up to 8x" are you talking about the card or the capabilities of the motherboard you have. The motherboard's AGP capabilities is what matters. The controller would be very difficult to upgrade, it would be cheaper to by a new motherboard. To make you feel better, all the reviews and testing results for your card indicate that you are loosing very little, if anything in the way of performance.

hi. thanks for the help capt. what i mean is that on bios, the agp is set to 4x, and i cannot change it. in the Geforce 4 box, it says it can go to 8x.
my computer is a Pentium III 733 mhz Windows ME computer. I say its pretty old so do you recommend a newer computer for this video card?

The card is capable of 8x, but your computer isn't. Is there something really important to you that your computer cannot do? The computer you have is not partiicularly slow, but it is definitely not a barn burning state of the art gaming machine. Many people would love to have your setup for its performance. I would just enjoy the card as it is. After all the card itself is not a top of the line state of the art card, but it did not cost $450 either. In a year an ATI9700pro will not be a state of the art video card either, and best of all it will not cost $450.

i built a computer and i have one technical problem i want to know if you can help me with when install drivers for my video card (Biostar Geforce 4 MX440 128DDR AGP) Window Xp in it device manager says something about an error on it which reads code error 39 and something about drivers i have tried 3 sets of drivers (Nvidia 41.00, 43.00, 44.00 detonater drivers) when installing these over and over eventaully the error goes away but if i shutdown or restart the error come back up and with the nvidia 44.00 drivers i can only get 4 bit settings and nothing more so i have to hibernate my sytems.
