I recently bought a Geforce 2 MX400 graphics card. I replaced an old Nvidia TNT Riva Diamond Viper 550 but there doesn't seem to be much improvement. I still can't seem to be able to play Medal of Honour Allied Assault on full graphics. Would the card work better if i upgraded my other specs.
Which are:
Pentium III 450
MS-6119 ATX BX2 Mainboard
128 RAM
10GB Hard Drive
Windows MEMy motherboard seems to only go up to AGP x2 not up to x4 would this boost the graphics much?
Thanks

AGP x 4 would be a little better all right but you should not be having the problems you are having with that system spec. Other things on your system may be using up resources you need for the games. Do what it says here and see how it is then

Mind you, I did just have a look at the specs required for Medal of Honor which my son uses on this system and they are
P II 450, 128Mb RAM and 16Mb graphics so you are pretty close, especially in the RAM area - the games will always be better if the spec is considerably higher than the minimum recommended.Still, try the tweaks and see how you get on. Report back :)

yes, a newer motherboard would be faster all the way around.
But you'd need to upgrade everything.
that is if you really want a better system I imagine your system runs plenty fast.
but if you look at yours and then some of these new boards.http://www.msi.com.tw/products/mainboard/mainboard.php?model=MS-6119

you might be able to find a cheap barebone system.also I've read about differences in the Geforce mx and ti models
some stores make the mx models sound like a bargin when they're not.upgrading can be an endless process
I never buy the latest of anything but I try to buy what was hot last year or so.good luck

Thanks very much people. Especially Trev - i never knew you could do so much to improve performance in ME. I have done all of the tweaks just before this post. I'll restart and keep you posted as soon as possible.
Thanks again

Ok, i did everything and i'm starting to think it's my processor that's making things jumpy. However the tweaks did make my system start up quicker.
Thanks again

not just the processor
but your motherboards FSB
FSB
66/100MHz clocks are supported.I suppose you've got pc-66 sdram.
I've seen 550 athlons handle games quite well.
I guess you could look into overclocking it.
