Subject: Geforce 2 MX will not run in ME
Comment:

I have been through 3 operating systems this week (WIN 98Se, ME, 2000 Pro and XP Pro)but none will run properly with my Sparkle Geforce 2 MX 200. In ME the PC will not boot into windows but I get a blinking green and red cursor in top left of screen. In 2000 and XP everything runs fine until you open any graphic based program (games, CAD, Photoshop etc.) then the systen freezes and you get the bluescreen telling you that the problem is NVdisp4 or similar. In XP the system reopens and reports a problem with the Geforce. I have all latest drivers and everything runs great in WIN 98 but I desperately want to run 2000 or XP. I also have tried seceral drivers including ones that came with the card and I have disabled other programs that are running. Can anyone help. System:
MSI KT133a Mobo PRo Turbo 2
Via chipset
Sparkle Geforce 2 MX
Athlon 1 ghz
512 MB PC133
USB tablet, optical mouse and keyboard
PCI 128 sound
40 Gb Western Digital Hard Drive.
Please, please help!

Have you installed the VIA 4-in-1 drivers? Are you installing the AGP driver at 4x? Have you tried it at 2x or standard?

Have you tried a different video card? Or tried this video card in a different machine?

I am also having the same problem with windows ME and my graphics card
(GeForce 2 mx 400 64 mb). Kind of the same problem,I put the card in and reboot to a blank sreen. I have'nt resolved the problem yet but I did figure out my computer was making extra beeps at start up . If yours has multiple beeps call your computers support hotline.( Mine was making 1 long beep and 2 short), which could mean .....defective card or it's just not recognizing the card. If you resolve your problem please let me know how you did it. THANX (((THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY)))

GeForce card will work with ME and XP. I know, having used both with my video card. As far as the "Sparkle" video board, I confess ignorance since I have never heard of it. You have to force WinME to accept a driver you want to use in place of its preferred driver. When installing the driver you have to select one istead of ME doing it and go to the advanced settings, telling it to install what you want, not what it wants. Good luck. I hope this helps you.

I downloaded the detonator driver from Nvidia and have had no problem. If I'm not mistaken if you can run windows update, go to the windows catalog update and there is an Nvidia driver update there, also. I hope this helps you.

Here is a thought. I had major problems with GEForce 3 Ti 200 and it turned out to be an IRQ sharing problem.
The new video card uses IRQ 11 and nothing was allowed to share. My Promise 66 card was also using IRQ 11 and I could change however
it was in PCI slot one I move it to PCI slot 2 and voila every thing worked.

Thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in hope this helps.
