Comment:

I have a Gateway laptop solo series, when I proceed with the format C:, it reads the following:

- Formating 9,590.24M (partition)

- Then "Trying to recover allocation unit"......continues up to the # 199,921.

- System stops, pattern noise from disk reading heard repeatedly, remains locked on 199,921.

- Then says "Not ready. Format terminated."

It will always do this, I suspect the hard-drive is bad, however, this certain model of Gateway laptop does not have a user-replaceable hard-drive.....thus I have not been able to replace it myself.

Any suggestions? This is a very knowledgeable crowd on this forum.

Many Thanks

mrmr.
