My Compac Presario freezes every time I use it. When it freezes, the mouse won't work or CNTL ALT DELETE. I have to push the power button for 10 seconds then it will go off. But when I try to boot it back up again, it won't send a signal to the monitor or the printer. I have performed a system restore and have bypassed the start up files in case of low system resources. Any suggestions?

What is it exactly that you are doing each time it freezes? What apps are open if any (including any listed in task manager)? Pushing the power button for a few seconds often works to change the state of the mainboard from up-but-can't-shutdown to off or the other way round depending. It seems you can get into Windows OK but you need to identify what processes are running that are causing the conflict that locks up your machine. Please post more info and we'll do our best to help more. Please also indicate what hardware you have, the spec of the machine etc... A re-install should be a last resort really so the more info we have the more we should be able to help. Mark
