One morning when I turned on the computerI could not get on the internet. When they came out ,they said I had a bad NIC card.I took the computer to a repair shop and they put in a new card. When I got home it was constantly freezing up.The repairman claims it is fine and the cable company says it is not their fault. I am stuck in the middle with a lot of freeze ups. Please help!!

It sounds like the driver for the new card is not getting along with your PC ? Have you ever applied Trevs How to Make Windows Me Run Well ver5 ? I have and it definitly made my Pc with WinMe run better .The only thing I did not do was disable the System Restore Utility (it saved me a couple of times)! back to the new card ,it seems alot of manufactuers are not even listing WindowsMe under their suystem requirements ,which makes me wonder how their drivers work with this O/S .I would go to the web site for the card they installed and see if they have any info on that card and WinMe ? Here is a link to Trevs suggestions for WinMe >http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html
Good Luck Nick

thanks Nick for the reply.I have been to that website and followed most of his suggestions but it is a little too technical for me. I am afraid to try some of the things he suggests.the repairman said I was overloaded with spy ware and he removed from the registry.Systems restore has been a Godsend in the past.I will call and see what kind of card he installed Thanks
