I have used both hotmail and yahoo free emails. Both work well, but in Hotmail, I get a lot of spam even with the filters and blocked addresses. No spam in Yahoo so far.

I use several. I have a hotmail account that I only give out to certain people. I never have gotten any spam on that one. I have another hotmail account that I use exclusively for spam. Any time I am asked for my e-mail address when signing on a site, etc. I give that one. Then I have my standard POP3 e-mail (using Outlook) at my home through my local ISP with several redirects that point to it. Personally I prefer the POP3 because I have more control of it.
But that is just my opinion. I could be wrong...
