Hi,

I'm trying to make a copy of Office XP (all 3 discs). I used Nero to copy the first two, and it worked fine. When I got to the third one however, there was an error (something like "unrecoverable read error" or something) at 45% complete. Anyways, I heard that Microsoft did this on purpose, so I tried to copy it with other programs (Easy CD, CloneCD, DiscJuggler). All of these programs freeze at the 45% mark when copying/making an image file/etc. Does anyone have any ideas of how to copy this damn CD? Thanks.

Also, I've heard that if you use a duplicate CD key for Office XP, that it will be detected through the Internet and you'll get screwed. Is this true or what?

The error is a deliberate read error to prevent unauthorised copying of CDs and other copyright material. You cannot be traced through using a duplicate CD key but you can be traced if you are silly enough to include your e-mail address when you ask dodgy questions. You would be better off buying a legitimate copy and then you would at least have an avenue of claim if you have problems

Call microsoft, have them assure you that if your software is damaged they will replace it free of charge. If they refuse yell alot and op buying software from them.
If however you wish to pirate this software your on your own. Anythings possible but lots of trojans and jail cells along the way.
