Hello. I'm sorry I can't supply too much of the system information at this time. The problem is I installed and formatted a second harddrive into an existing system. Without formatting and reinstalling the OS. Problem is that the hard drive that I installed is an 80 G hard drive but it only formatted to and shows as a 30 G drive. Any ideas on how to fix this. I formatted about 6 times with the same result. Used Fdisk out of the dos prompt and fdisked it as a primary drive. The first hard drive is also a primary drive but it is the active partition.

Is it an older system? How large is your primary harddrive?
If it is an older pc, I would guess you might need to use the installation disk that came with the drive for your bios to recognize the larger harddrive.

Yes it is an older system. It was bought second hand. The primary harddrive is 3 G. And there was no disk that came with the drive. It was new, but probably OEM. I will search the net to see if I can find any of the information that you are talking about. I suppose that the harddrive manufacturers site would be the best place to start??

Yes, check the mfr website.
You are looking for an "overlay" or "bios extender" that will place an instruction in the boot sector to allow the older bios to read a large hard drive.
It may be under setup or formatting tools. There may be other names for what you are looking for.
If you want, post the brand of harddrive and I am sure we can help you find the right program.

Hi again...
The hard drive is Liteon CD-ROM LTN202. I will also search for the answer. I'll check back to see if there was any success.. Thanks so much in advance for your help...
