I just wiped my hard drive on my other computer due to some problems I was having. I installed ME with no problem, but I can't get onto the internet. I have a cable internet connection, and the modem appears to be fine, but there is no internet on my computer. I phoned the Customer Support for my cable company, and they said my machine wasn't recognizing my network card or something like that. They said I needed to find out what my network card was but they were very vague about what to do next.
I thought I might just need to reinstall certain drivers, based on other posts I read, but ME itself is no help, and I do not have the CD's for the modem or the CPU or whatever I need it for, so I don't have access to the drivers. I have absolutely no idea what to do, so any help would be very much appreciated.

The cable modem is connected to the computer in one of two ways... 1. a data cable that goes from the cable modem to the Ethernet card in the computer 2. a usb cable connected to the cable modem and goes to the computer.
If you're using the Ethernet card, the cable is much thicker and has a plastic connector on it similar to a phone connector... If it's a usb connection, then the cable is probably black.
Go to a MS Dos prompt and type the following:
ipconfig /all
Then hit enter. Tht will give you your IP information. If there's a network card, it will also give you the "address" of the card. It will display the address, then your IP, and then the gateway and DNS information.
If you can do that, post back with whatever IP information shows up...
