Ok i reformatted yesterday and i put in the windows restore disk after i was finished to reinstall windows but its starting to install i get all kinds of errors first it says "0x0b read fail" so i hit retry and it keeps saying error.Then i click abort and another error pops up saying cannot write to write protected disk,which im assuming it is talking about my hard drive, so i went to the bios to see if it was but it wasnt, then after that error it says invalid dump 10001 and then just stops.Even worse half of the time it doesnt want to read the windows restore cd so all i do is get on the prompt screen. its all very confusing.@!#$%$^@ >={

One should not format and attempt to use a factory restore disc as the disc will look for some parameters installed by manf to do the restore. usually the only choice left is to get a full install OS/CD, but unless you have the MOBO drivers or can somehow get them off the restore disc or from the manf or off the INTERNET the computer will not function properly.

what brand and model of comp do you have ?

"so i went to the bios to see if it was but it wasnt" ?? it wasnt what ?

Have you changed any hardware after last reinstall?

Try cleaning the cd drive and cd.

It might be helpful to know just when it first gives an error and if possible how far along it gets with restore.
