Hi everyone,
I am a little bit confusing when we need to use the "format c: /u" command? "/u" mean "Unconditional" format, right? I understand the "format c: /s" command. It is used to format the active drive and copies the system files to the hard disk.

The system switch isn't normally necessary if you intend to install an Operating System - and most people do - that will be taken care of during the installation process. If you have some oddball 'swappable' FDD & CD combo, then you might need to make the HDD bootable first.
It's not absolutely necessary to use any switches with format
