FORMAT C: BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME

Im running WINME on my computer and i tried formating it. I put in my boot disk and get to C:\. then i type format c: and it says bad command or file name. ive formated other computers b4 and this never happened!!!! whats goin on???

restart with the boot dist the when the prompt appears in a: type
format c:

you must do this fron the floppy a:
not from the c:

Make sure the file FORMAT.COM is on the bootdisk to start with. Might sound obvious but I've fallen for this one before then had to go make a bootdisk on another pc!

After FDISKING, reboot the computer get to the "A" prompt. Type "format c:/s/u", this will give you the choice for full format of the C: drive, it worked for me when confronted with that message.
