Download this patch if you want to get back your c:\prompt using Windows ME. It comes in handy if you run some older dos games or programs that dont like to run in a dos window. Or if you want the c prompt to run some disk utilities like Drive Image etc. Using this patch you dont need a boot disk to get to the c prompt.
How it works....when you boot up you hit F8 like with Windows 98. Then press Shift f5 and you get the c prompt.
This patch also allow Command.com to use your autoexec.bat and config.sys files on boot up. Some programs still access these files. Especially the sound card settings, when running a game from dos.
The patch is pretty straight forward and works fine.
You can keep backup copies of the unpatched files for later keeping in case you want to go back to the original files.
