OK, this is my dilema. First off all my partions got deleted and that ment I couldn't restore my HD to Compaq's Factory Default settings. So, my restore CD became useless and then I searched for help on Compaq.com, the support there was awful, they won't answer your question unless its in the FAQ list. I also searched for drivers and software for my keyboard in their software and drivers section for Compaq Presario 5000 Series, Model 5WV280. They had a Easy access keyboard with LED support fix, needless to say that did nothing. So if anyone here knows what to do, or has the software that can help me, or they have a semi-new presario to and have the software to fix this problem. It would help me alot if you could e-mail me the software AND drivers to inept@inepted.net or post a reply that could solve this problem.
Thank you much :)

If you can fdisk your drive down to no partitions at all and then try the quickrestore CD. Compaq secret: Quickrestore won't do a full bare-metal restore unless you hit capslock as soon as the pc starts. Other than that try calling 1-800-ok-compaq

I did have a Presario 4540 for a while. I did not partition but, I did reformat from dos and then rebooted with the CD in it.
Once the CD was in it did a full restore.
Some times you just have to get rid of everything to make it right.
There is a 800 number where you can reorder a replacement CD.

Do you mean that you deleted the files on you're D drive? If so, those are the files the recovery cd uses to restore the C drive. Without them the recovery won't work. You'll have to call Compaq and order the Quick restore CD's, which will format, partition, and reinstall the OS
