floppy woes

Recently my floppy drive seems to have a life of its own.At random it starts up runs looks for a non existent disc and then goes back to normal.Very unusual..any ideas. thank you

Make sure you antivirus software is not set to scan floppies in real time.

Thanks newgrl.Norton was configured to scan floppy on shutdown and startup.Disabled this function and all appears well..will keep you posted.
