If you're have ikernel.exe problems this is the reason:
Symptoms
Virus definition files provided by Symantec for Norton AntiVirus software are identifying the InstallShield Professional 6 script engine ( ikernel.exe ) as being infected with the W32.Nimda.enc(dr) virus.
Cause
This is a false positive by Norton AntiVirus. The ikernel.exe script engine file contains no virus. This error with Norton AntiVirus has been confirmed by Symantec as an issue with their virus definition files incorrectly identifying the InstallShield Professional 6 script engine (ikernel.exe) as being infected with the above virus.
Solution
To resolve this issue with Norton AntiVirus you will have to do the following:
Update the virus definitions for your version of Symantec Norton AntiVirus at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download.htmlUn-quarantine and restore the ikernel.exe and ikernel.ex_ files by following the instructions located at http://service4.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001053109560706
