Fix for Reported Problems in Delindex 5.0 REPORTED PROBLEMS * Just used 5.0 for the first time. It cleared out what it's supposed to, but it caused the loss of all Microsoft icons from Office, Works, etc. on desktop, office, shortcut bar, start-programs etc. --Trev * Suffered the same symptoms as Trev reported, system restore also ceased to work locking up halfway through restore operation although this may be unrelated to DELINDEX. I had to uninstall then reinstall office to restore icons, as the repair option was not effective. --Mick * Downloaded and ran DELINDEX 5.0.Now my installed software has lost their icon. The icon for FlipAlbum, Word, Excell and others are the same, a windows icon. Where did my others go? The programs still work just fine though. --John, on Annoyances.org * I found that I had lost the entire library in WMP and had to get the program to search for all the media files again. --from an email. ============================================ Do NOT run the following lines. Comment them out by puting :: in front of the lines. If you want to delete them, start with the highest number first in order to keep track of the line numbers. #268- ::deltree /y C:\_restore\temp\ It's not clear if this is responsible for a problem with System Restore; don't run it to be on the safe side #287- deltree /y c:\windows\Applic~1\Micros~1\Mediap~1\Active~1.dat It IS clear that this is responsible for losing the WMP library requiring a search for all the media files. Do not uncomment the following line in case it has similar results on your computer: #302- deltree /y c:\windows\applic~1\micros~1\mediap~1\curren~1.wmd #293- deltree /y c:\windows\Applic~1\Micros~1\Instal~1\ It IS clear that this is the source of the icon problem. For the new version of Spybot Search and Destroy, change #253- from deltree /y c:\progra~1\spybot~1\updates\ to deltree /y c:\progra~1\spybot~1\updates\*.zip DELINDEX 5.1 with these corrections will be posted in a few days. Thanks to all who promptly reported problems, and especialy to Iain from Belgium for his help in diagnosing these problems. I test any and every change to DELINDEX daily on my only computer. As I've always said, one size does NOT fit all, even though I do my best to have DELINDEX work on all possible systems, with harm to none. My apologies to all who were adversely afected by Ver 5.0. Any suggestions for further additions or correction to Delindex should be sent to me or posted on this forum with DELINDEX in the subject line.

Sorry for the delay RM, I just found your "my computing.net" message and responded. Although it seems to be a little belated and redundant now, as you've done most of it :) Although keep in mind I run a bare bones ME rig at home and it's practically a research surfing machine. Only a minimal amount of software on it. The larger programs I use like Office, Blender, POV-Ray, PS7 blah blah, is over on either 2k or XP. It's just the way I have things set up at the moment. Nice work though. Anyway, you have my addies for future reference for whatever you want.
