Using WinME with IE 5.5 with SP 2. Done the defrag and virus check. Puter is working fine except when the first character is typed, there's a delay until it appears as text. No further delay in characters for that message after that. Problem repeats with new message.

Thanks, Linda. Nope that's not it. I suspect it's something in Registry, but I hesitate to go in there.

Where are you typing into? Try going to Control Panel > Internet Options > Content tab > click Autocomplete > and uncheck all of the options there. Also try clicking Clear Forms and Clear Passwords. -Burbble

Thanks, Burbble, Nope, that wasn't the fix either, although disabling Autocomplete and unclicking and clearing everything connected to it, is a good idea and has been done. It's added some more speed, but thatwasn't the problem, nor was login a problem. The problem is, for example with e-mail, when I type a word, the first three letters are always delayed. Not until I type the fourth letter, do they all appear. After that, it's not a problem in that message. But when I start a new message, the delay problem reappears.
