Firmwar Upgrade without Floppy

Comment:
I have a Inspiraon 8000 with a Sony CRX700e in the bay. The other slot is a CD/DVD. I am having more problems with reading/writing on the CDRW and need to upgrade my firmwar (currently is "h" and "u" is avaiable). The problem is that all that I can find on the Dell Website, Computing.net and Google, is upgrading with a floppy disc (which I cannot do).
Dell says I can flash with my HD, but the required steps involve a floppy disc.
I have found one site that allows CD flash, but their downloaded file results in an error while flashing.

While thinking more about this...
If I make a floppy at work and then transfer the data to a CDR, can I use that to upgrade the firmware?

A lot of people end up with doorstops because something goes wrong doing that with CDRW/DVDW drives. If you do not have a specific issue that the update specificallt addresses, then pass on it.
